Multi-headed, prehistoric-looking and increasingly hard to find. Grows about as fast as a glacier.
Dragon trees branch only after they flower, so every head on a tree represents years. A three-headed specimen is decades of growth and cannot be shortcut.
Drought-proof, low-litter and unmistakable. Ideal in gravel, courtyards, or anywhere irrigation is a nuisance.
Frequently planted in 1970s Adelaide gardens and now in the way of renovations. Almost always worth rescuing.
